How To Get Healthy By Reading: Oliver McCoy Giveaway

by How To Mommy on 10.07.11

I was recently given two adorable children’s books, “Oliver McCoy – The Boy Who Loved Onions” and “Oliver McCoy – The Vegetable Boy.”

These stories were written by Dr. Richard B. Joelson, a respected psychotherapist and educator.

While the first book is about a small boy who eats only onions, it is the introduction to a series of five Oliver McCoy titles which use humor and rhyme to emphasize the pleasure and value of eating vegetables – and fruits – thus helping children see these foods in a more positive way.

The book narrates Oliver’s experiences with both the joys and consequences of preferring and only eating onions – such an unusual vegetable for a seven year old.

The second book in the Oliver McCoy series, “Oliver McCoy – The Vegetable Boy” was just recently published.  This book has Oliver trying other vegetables besides onions with his mother’s encouragement. He discovers the pleasure of eating new vegetables, while still enjoying onions, and shares his new vegetable discoveries and a veggie drink he creates with his friends. He also plants a vegetable garden and dreams of opening a vegetable stand.

These books are a really great way to introduce your children to many vegetables they may not be familiar with. For any readers in Southeast Michigan, Dr. Richard Joelson will be appearing at a book reading/book signing on Saturday, October 29th at the Detroit Eastern Market between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. For more information contact Joanna or check the Detroit Eastern Market website calendar.

One of my lucky readers will win a copy of BOTH Oliver McCoy books.  Just follow the easy Rafflecopter instructions below.  The first option is mandatory, but complete as many steps as you’d like for more chances to win!  Remember, the giveaway ends at 11:59PM tonight!
