How To Bake: Cornflake Holiday Wreaths

by How To Mommy on 11.29.11

My family has a tradition where every weekend after Thanksgiving, we get together to make Christmas Cookies.

I think this year we ended up making over 10 types of cookies and probably more than 200 cookies!

I wanted to share my very favorite cookie ever with you.  These “cookies” will change your holiday season.  I promise.

Cornflake Holiday Wreaths

  • 6 cups Kellogg’s cornflakes
  • 10 oz. package of marshmallows
  • 4 oz. margarine {1/2 stick}
  • 1 tsp. green food coloring
  • Red hots

  1. Melt marshmallows and margarine in a microwaveable safe bowl for 30 seconds.  Stir.
  2. Continue microwaving for an additional minute.  Stir.
  3. Add green food coloring.  Stir.
  4. Add cornflakes.  Stir.
  5. Take a 1/4 cup measuring cup sprayed with non-stick spray and fill with “batter.”
  6. Place on wax paper {I recommend spraying that with non-stick spray too}.
  7. Shape into a wreath and place red hots on the wreath to look like berries.
  8. Let wreaths set up for at least an hour before moving.

That’s it!  I recommend keeping them in the freezer and eating them just before their thawed.  They’re less sticky this way and some how, even more delicious!

Let me know if you try these!  I know you’ll love them.

These look like such fun! (except of course I’ll do the melting on the stovetop ’cause we don’t have a microwave lol) Hmmm my mom’s big party is this weekend. About how many does this make?

I love that I keep finding you on Frugal Girls! These look great – any chance we’ll get to swap some next week?! If not, I can now make some on my own – Thanks for sharing!

Yum! Do you know approximately how many wreaths this recipes makes?

I would say 2 to 3 dozen? I generally at least double, if not quadruple the recipe so it’s hard to know! 🙂
