How To Cook: Pepperoni Pizza Puffs

by How To Mommy on 02.28.12

I’ve been meaning to share this wonderful Pinterest recipe with you for some time.

We hosted the super bowl this year so I decided it was finally time to make some of the amazing recipes that have been sitting in my Pinterest folder for eons.

This appetizer is quick, easy and delicious!  I altered a few of the ingredients to make them a little healthier as well. Online Cooking Schools offers gourmet and baking classes that can teach you the basics of cooking.

Pepperoni Pizza Puffs

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, but I think it’s a good addition)
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (I used skim)
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup cubed pepperoni (I used Hormel Turkey Pepperoni minis – no chopping and healthier)
  • 1/2 cup store-bought pizza sauce

How To Make It:

1.  Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2.  In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, Italian seasoning, salt and red pepper flakes (if using)
3.  Whisk in the milk and egg. Stir in the mozzarella, parmesan and pepperoni
4.  Let it stand for 10 minutes.  Stir the batter and divide into a greased 24-cup mini-muffin pan.
5.  Bake until puffed and golden, 20 to 25 minutes.
6.  Meanwhile, microwave the pizza sauce until warmed through. Serve the puffs with the pizza sauce for dipping.

These pizza puffs were a perfect appetizer for the party.  Everyone loved them!
