How To Cook: Spicy Bleu Burger

My friend Joe makes an incredible Philly Burger, stuffed with cream cheese and jalapenos.

I think last time he used 2 pounds of meat to make 4 burgers.


I’ve been craving these burgers, but being on weight watchers, I can’t justify eating a half pound of ground beef in one setting!

I modified his recipe and came up with quite the tasty treat.  The burger ended up to be 8 PointsPlus® and I used a Sara Lee Delightful Wheat Bun for 2 PointsPlus®.  Not too shabby for dinner!

Spicy Bleu Burgers

Serves: 4


  • 1 pound 85% lean ground beef {you could knock off a few points by using 93% lean, but this is what I had on hand}
  • 6 ounces fat free cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup reduced fat blue cheese*
  • 1 jalapeño*
  • Seasonings to taste (garlic powder, seasoning salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flake, onion powder)
  • 4 Sara Lee Delightful Wheat buns
  • Heinz57 Sauce*



  1. After seasoning your meat, divide your it into 4 quarter-pound balls {you can eye ball it, but I used my food scale}
  2. Roast your jalapeño.  Since I don’t have a gas stove, I just put it in the oven at 450° for 5-7 minutes
  3. Remove seeds and pulp and dice
  4. Microwave your cream cheese and blue cheese for 45 seconds
  5. Stir cheeses and jalapeño pieces together
  6. Cut each ball of beef into two
  7. Form half of each patty leaving a divot for the filling
  8. Place an equal number of cheese filling in each burger
  9. Flatten the other half of the patty
  10. Place over the filling, making sure the sides are sealed
  11. Form the hamburger into thinner patties for grilling {these needed to be even thinner}
  12. Grill to your preference
  13. Serve on a bun with Heinz57 Sauce!

Ohhh, those burgers look amazing! I have started making a sauce for my burgers that’s basically caramelized onions and mushrooms and blue cheese. I swear, there’s nothing better than a delicious piece of beef with blue cheese!

These look delicious! I am a vegetarian, but I bet I could tweak the recipe to make it work. Yummo!

Looks delicious. I love spicy and cheesy. I’d probably have to make some without peppers, though. My DH and sons don’t like spicy as much.
