How To Make Friendship Bracelets

by How To Mommy on 09.06.11

The other day Pinterest provided me with some really exciting news…

Friendship bracelets are back!

You have no idea how happy this made me.

My friends and I used to spend hours days summers at the pool making bracelet after bracelet after bracelet.  We would safety pin them to our shorts or towels and sit on our lawn chairs and crank out some “jewelry.”

I had a Tupperware box full of all my different colors of floss and took it everywhere!  I was always ready to whip you up something stylish.  🙂

Well, I had to get my daughter in on the fad, right?

How To Make Friendship Bracelets

What You Need

  • Embroidery floss (I recommend using 3 colors)
  • Safety pin or clip board
  • Scissors

What You Do

  1. Cut 3 long pieces of floss {about 36 inches}
  2. Fold in half and tie a knot at the top, leaving enough room to tie the bracelet together at the end {about 3 inches}
  3. Safety pin the floss to your pant let or place the knot under a clipboard to hold in place
  4. With the far left strand, make a 4 over the next piece of floss and pull through, twice
    {the left piece needs to be over the other and then pulled under}
  5. Take this piece across each strand doing the same thing
  6. Repeat with the far left strand
  7. Your bracelet should be looking like this
  8. If the bracelet keeps twisting up, you can tape it down to make it flat
  9. Keep knotting until it’s long enough to wear!
