How To Stay Inspired

While I was working out at the gym this morning I couldn’t stop thinking about my recent post about my friend Jody, and her incredible 50 mile ultra marathon.

Stories like hers are so inspiring and I continued to think about what other things inspire us.

It can be as simple as a conversation with a friend on a similar journey, a photo, or a song.

Ever since seeing Wicked a few months ago, I feel like “Defying Gravity” is my new anthem.  Anytime I need to be reinvigorated or put in the right state of mind, I turn it on.

Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!

I started Weight Watchers for the third official time in February and had really decided that this would be the time I stuck with it and lost the weight I so badly wanted needed to lose.

So far, it’s going fairly well.  I’m five months in and have lost 25 pounds.  It’s by far the best I’ve ever done at my attempts to lose weight (and believe me, there have been SEVERAL) and I feel great.  I weigh less now than I did when I first met my husband!  Also, it’s really changed my outlook on so many things.  Overall, I’m a more positive person and just generally happier.

I’m also getting to a place where people can notice and comment on it, which makes me feel even more proud!

I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but for the first time, I don’t doubt that I can get there.  It will take a lot of hard work, but if I feel this good at 25 pounds lighter, I can only imagine what 50 will feel like!  It’s almost like I’m defying gravity…

I look up to you in so many ways. You are definitely in inspiration to me as a mother and someone who takes initiative, says it like it is, and wants to pay it forward by managing this blog. We all have our weaknesses and struggles with self-doubt. Anybody out there who thinks they’re perfect, cannot be entirely human. I have found the best way to accomplish the goals we set for ourselves is to be surrounded with only positive people – They are the crew that know what WE need to help us along our journey. You are beautiful human and I know you can do it.

I love that play! 🙂 Anyway, I gave birth two months ago and I badly need to lose the weight. At the moment, I can’t go all out in my exercise (since I gave birth via CS) so I’m not seeing much change. I’m looking for inspiration as well.

I love Wicked!!! Good luck with your weight loss! I’ve been working on mine for a little over a year now, but I still have a long ways to go (about 50-60lbs). I do a weekly weigh in on my blog on Thursdays – that seems to help keep me motivated. Though lately, I’ve reached a plateau and am getting kind of bored of it all.

That’s awesome- keep up the good work. Sometimes seeing progress can be motivation enough to just push you further to keep going. I have a lot of upbeat songs I like to workout to that inspire me to keep moving!!
